Baseball Game Preview: Avenal Buccaneers vs. Firebaugh Eagles

Avenal hasn't had much luck against Firebaugh recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Buccaneers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Eagles at 2:03 p.m. Avenal has given up an average of 14.4 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Avenal fell victim to Dos Palos and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They came up short against the Broncos, falling 22-0.

Meanwhile, Firebaugh had to endure a nine-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past Tranquillity 11-1 on Tuesday. The Eagles' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Avenal's defeat dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Firebaugh, their victory bumped their record up to 3-14.

Avenal might still be hurting after the 15-3 loss they got from Firebaugh in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Can the Buccaneers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
