In a showdown between the top teams in Arizona, Hamilton (Chandler) defeated district rival No. 18 Basha (Chandler) 28-12 in the MaxPreps Game of the Week.

History was made in the Hamilton win as four-star sophomore wide receiver Roye Oliver III broke the school record for receiving yards in a season. The 5-foot-10, 165-pound pass-catcher surpassed the record during an electric first half where he hauled in three passes for 144 yards and a touchdown. He also returned a punt 59 yards for a score.

Oliver's efforts helped Hamilton build a 21-9 lead at the half. He finished with seven catches for 210 yards and leads high school football nationally with 25 touchdown receptions. He has 59 receptions for 1,316 yards on the season.

For Basha, three-star senior linebacker Eli Cramer-Cronin, a New Mexico commit, kept the Bears in the game in the second half, forcing a fumble and picking off a pass.

Basha starting quarterback Brodie Vehrs left the game after the first half due to injury.

Hamilton, which has not been ranked in the MaxPreps Top 25 since 2021, moves to 8-0 on the season. The Huskies host Cesar Chavez (Laveen) next Thursday. Basha drops to 7-1 and will host Mesa (Mesa, Ariz.) next Friday.
