Softball Recap: Eastern Wins Going Away Against Oak Hill

Eastern won the last time they faced Oak Hill and things went their way on Friday too. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 26-1 margin over the Oaks. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matches by ten runs or more this season.

Leah Rader made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Lynnleigh McCollister was a standout: she went a perfect 5-for-5 with five RBI, three runs, and one double. Those five hits gave her a new career-high. Libby Poorman was another key player, going 4-for-5 with four runs, three RBI, and one double.

Eastern was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .634. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

The victory made it two in a row for Eastern and bumps their season record up to 13-8. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Oak Hill, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-14.

Looking ahead, Eastern will take on Peebles at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Oak Hill, they will take on Piketon in a tournament on Tuesday. The Redstreaks' pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so the Oaks' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
