South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett] had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Springfield Longhorns on Thursday. The Patriots have beaten the Longhorns the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Longhorns has come to flipping the script.

South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett] walked away with the victory (and looked especially good in the first set). The match finished with set scores of 25-8, 23-25, 26-24, 25-18.

Sarah Elmore paced South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett]'s offense, picking up 19 kills. Elmore got some help from Eliana Gutierrez and her 23 assists. Gutierrez was also solid from the service line: she led the team with six aces.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett] will take on Cheyenne Wells at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Springfield, they will square off against Kim/Branson at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
