The Twin Loup Wolves will face off against the Hitchcock County Falcons on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Twin Loup is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 56-22 victory over Neligh-Oakdale. The Wolves pushed the score to 48-8 by the end of the third, a deficit the Warriors cut but never quite recovered from.
Twin Loup found their leader in sophomore Oran Grint, who rushed for 143 yards and three scores while picking up 8.4 yards per carry, and also picked up 47 receiving yards and one TD. Grint also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, picking up a sack and making 19 total tackles in addition to snagging an interception which he returned one-yard for a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Carter Hall, who rushed for 95 yards and one touchdown on only five carries.
Twin Loup was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 318 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2024.

Twin Loup didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Hall led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself. Grint also rushed for 143 rushing yards, which is notable because Twin Loup is undefeated when he posts at least 80 rushing yards, but 1-3 otherwise. Hall got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Hitchcock County put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They claimed a resounding 42-14 win over Franklin. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska football rankings (they are ranked 18th, while the Flyers are ranked 94th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.
Twin Loup's record is now 6-3. As for Hitchcock County, their record now sits at 9-0.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Twin Loup has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 185.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Hitchcock County struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 290.1 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Twin Loup was able to grind out a solid victory over Hitchcock County in their previous matchup back in October of 2023, winning 40-28. Do the Wolves have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Falcons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
