Softball Recap: Alhambra Comes Up Short

Alhambra fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Benicia on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 16-15. The Bulldogs have struggled against the Panthers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Nichaela West was cooking despite her team's loss, going 4-for-5 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Corina Griffone, who went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Alhambra's defeat dropped their record down to 10-10-1. As for Benicia, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Alhambra will head out to square off against Encinal at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Benicia, they will venture away from home to challenge College Park at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Falcons' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Panthers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
