Basketball Recap: MonDak [Westby/Grenora] Comes Up Short

MonDak [Westby/Grenora] and Culbertson squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but MonDak [Westby/Grenora] had to settle for second. They fell 56-44 to the Culbertson Cowboys. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Cowboys this season, with their most recent loss being a 72-39 defeat last Saturday.

Culbertson's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mark Kirkaldie, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and 13 boards. The dominant performance gave Kirkaldie a new career-high in rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Bridger Salvevold, who went 9-for-19 on his way to 21 points and three steals.

MonDak [Westby/Grenora] has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-15 record this season. Culbertson has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season.

MonDak [Westby/Grenora] does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Culbertson will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Lustre Christian at 7:30 p.m. on March 6th. Culbertson is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.9 points per game this season.
