Football Game Preview: Ridgefield Tigers vs. Newtown Nighthawks + How To Watch

The Ridgefield Tigers will square off against the Newtown Nighthawks at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (Ridgefield 12.2, Newtown 12) so any points scored will be well earned.

On Wednesday, Ridgefield was able to grind out a solid victory over Danbury, taking the game 17-7. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tigers.

The critical scores for Ridgefield came from Michael Salimbene and Christopher Colsey.

One reason for the win was Ridgefield's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Leading the way was Santino Barrella with three.

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last five times Newtown and Masuk have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Wednesday. The Nighthawks were the clear victors by a 34-13 margin over the Panthers. Considering the Nighthawks have won seven contests by more than 20 points this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Newtown didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of C.J. Manfredonia and Nick Stockwell. Stockwell also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with seven. Caden Cuomo was another major factor on D, picking up 1.5 sacks and making eight total tackles (2.5 for loss).

Ridgefield's win bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Newtown, their victory bumped their record up to 8-2.

Ridgefield skirted past Newtown 10-7 in their previous meeting back in October of 2021. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Nighthawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
