Basketball Game Preview: Cedar Valley Aviators vs. Wasatch Wasps

Cedar Valley is on a six-game streak of home wins, while Wasatch is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Cedar Valley Aviators will host the Wasatch Wasps at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Cedar Valley is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Utah's top teams: Timpview, who was ranked 20th at the time (Cedar Valley was ranked 17th). Cedar Valley came out on top against Timpview by a score of 56-43 on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Wasatch posted their closest victory since February 2, 2024 on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 45-42 win over Timpview.

Wasatch found their leader in sophomore Mahala Speredon, who went 7 of 14 en route to 17 points and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Anna Greenwell, who posted seven points.

Cedar Valley is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. As for Wasatch, their victory bumped their record up to 16-3.

Cedar Valley ended up a good deal behind Wasatch in their previous meeting back in January, losing 60-46. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Wasatch's Peyton Behnke, who went 8 for 16 on her way to 22 points and seven rebounds.
