Basketball Recap: The Pilgrim Academy Find Success

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but The Pilgrim Academy ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Cape May County Tech Hawks 60-57. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Pioneers have posted since February 9, 2024.

Mason Parmer was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 18 points and 13 rebounds. What's more, he posted two blocks, the most he's had since back in February of 2024. Jared McGonagle was another key player, putting up 13 points and five boards.

The Pilgrim Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in ten consecutive matchups.

The Pilgrim Academy's victory bumped their record up to 9-13. As for Cape May County Tech, their loss was their ninth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-22.

Looking ahead, The Pilgrim Academy will take on Calvary Academy at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Pilgrim Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52 points per game this season. Cape May County Tech does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
