Recap: Lake Dallas Falcons vs. Arlington Heights Yellowjackets

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Lake Dallas Falcons had no problem doing just that on Friday. They strolled past Arlington Heights with points to spare, taking the game 28-13. The win was familiar territory for Lake Dallas who now have four in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lake Dallas to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sam McAfee, who rushed for 144 yards and a touchdown. Cade Bortnem was another key contributor, throwing for 131 yards and two touchdowns.

The team's defense also helped out by holding Arlington Heights to a paltry 204 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Lake Dallas' ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid the passer out three times before it was all said and done. Tanner Moon was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two sacks himself.

Despite the defeat, Arlington Heights saw an underclassman step up: Carson James rushed for 54 yards and two touchdowns.

Lake Dallas' win bumped their record up to 10-1. As for Arlington Heights, their loss dropped their record down to 7-4.

Lake Dallas is on the road again on Friday and play against Rider at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. Rider knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six games -- so hopefully Lake Dallas likes a good challenge. Arlington Heights does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
