Baseball Game Preview: Laurel Spartans vs. Mohawk Area Warriors

The Laurel Spartans will face off against the Mohawk Area Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The last four games Laurel has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Tuesday, Laurel needed a bit of extra time to put away Neshannock. They won by a run and slipped past the Lancers 6-5. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last seven times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

The team relied heavily on JJ McBride, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of RJ Kissick, who scored two runs while going 3-for-6.

Laurel kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2024.

Meanwhile, Mohawk Area posted their closest win since April 29, 2024 on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Quaker Valley 5-3. The win continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Quakers: they've now won five in a row.

The victory got Laurel back to even at 3-3. As for Mohawk Area, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
