Basketball Recap: Maria Regina Comes Up Short

Maria Regina lost against Moore Catholic back in February and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Sunday. The game between the Maria Regina Tigers and the Moore Catholic Mavericks didn't end well, with the Maria Regina Tigers falling 69-53.

Brianna Caliri was nothing short of spectacular for Moore Catholic: she dropped a double-double on 26 points and 13 boards. Caliri is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Mackenzie Felci, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds.

Maria Regina's defeat was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Moore Catholic, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.

Maria Regina will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Kennedy Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on December 19th. As for Moore Catholic, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 66-30 victory against St. Edmund Prep on the 11th.
