Basketball Recap: Lloyd Barnes Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Albemarle

There's no place like home for Union Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They walked away with a 54-43 victory over the Albemarle Bulldogs on Monday. The win continues a trend for the Cardinals in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won seven in a row.

Union Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Lloyd Barnes out in front who dropped a double-double with ten points and ten rebounds. That's the most points Barnes has posted since back in December of 2024. Heath Lunsford was another key player, putting up five points in addition to seven blocks and six boards.

Union Academy's win bumped their record up to 13-9. As for Albemarle, they dropped their record down to 2-21 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Union Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 57-47 loss against Mount Pleasant on the 18th. Albemarle does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
