Softball Preview: North Bullitt Eagles vs. Eastern Eagles
North Bullitt hasn't had much luck against Eastern recently, but that could start to change on Friday. North Bullitt will take on Eastern at 6:00 p.m. North Bullitt will be strutting in after a win while Eastern will be coming in after a loss.
Having struggled with four defeats in a row, North Bullitt turned things around against Southern on Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Trojans a 16-0 shutout. Considering the Eagles' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Amree Hammons made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Addison Ferguson and Paige Brooks did most of the damage at the plate: Ferguson scored three runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-2, while Brooks went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four stolen bases gave Ferguson a new career-high. Layla Griffin also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
North Bullitt always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .781. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Eastern might've scored the first runs on Wednesday, but it was Assumption who claimed the real prize. The Eagles took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rockets. The Eagles' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.
Eastern's defeat dropped their record down to 11-4. As for North Bullitt, the victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 3-8.
North Bullitt suffered a grim 11-0 defeat to Eastern in their previous meeting on Saturday. Can North Bullitt avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
