Baseball Game Preview: North Buncombe Black Hawks vs. T.C. Roberson Rams

North Buncombe is 0-10 against T.C. Roberson since March of 2019 but things could change on Monday. The Black Hawks will welcome the Rams at 6:30 p.m. T.C. Roberson took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on North Buncombe, who comes in off a win.

North Buncombe took a eight-run defeat the last time they faced off against A.C. Reynolds, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Black Hawks had just enough and edged out the Rockets 5-3. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Black Hawks as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Kameron Keenan made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). He also tossed no walks, which is notable because North Buncombe is 8-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 2-5 otherwise. Keenan was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double. That stolen base was his first of the season.

Keenan wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Davis Franklin, who went 2-for-3 with one double. Those two hits gave Franklin a new career-high. Dylan Silvers also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, T.C. Roberson faced Charlotte Catholic in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Rams fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 7-5. It was the first time this season that the Rams let down their fans at home.

North Buncombe's victory bumped their record up to 10-6. As for T.C. Roberson, their loss dropped their record down to 13-4.

North Buncombe suffered a grim 16-4 defeat to T.C. Roberson when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can the Black Hawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
