League recap: Harrisburg tops Spearfish to extend winning streak

Harrisburg extended the longest winning streak in Big Eight this week by beating Spearfish, 31-7. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Tigers.

Harrisburg made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 3,132 from 4,094. The advance stemmed from a 31-7 victory over the Spartans last week.

Vermillion's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Jack Brown threw for 70 and one touchdown and JT Sorensen had 60 yards receiving. On the ground Avery Garcia chipped in 19 yards. Tanner Anderson helped Vermillion's passing attack out by catching two balls for 12 yards.

Madison's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Bulldogs feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Jacob Giles has thrown for 611 yards and three touchdowns this season, while Brendon Waldner has 19 catches for 208 yards. Rush Milne leads the league in rushing with 419 yards.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Brandon White's team takes on the Tanagers. The Tigers are currently in first, while Vermillion is in fifth.
