Softball Recap: Capitan Takes a Loss

Capitan and Loving squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Capitan had to settle for second. They came up short against the Falcons, falling 7-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 24-0 last Wednesday.

Faith Roper was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out ten batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances.

Capitan's defeat dropped their record down to 13-10. As for Loving, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 19 of their last 20 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-7 record this season.

Capitan does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Loving, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 9-3 victory against Estancia on the 15th.
