Basketball Game Preview: Calvary Baptist Academy Cavaliers vs. Captain Shreve Gators

Having just played yesterday, the Calvary Baptist Academy Cavaliers will jump right back in to play the Captain Shreve Gators at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Calvary Baptist Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.2 points per game this season.

On Friday, Calvary Baptist Academy greeted the New Year with with a 60-45 victory over Evangel Christian Academy. Given the Cavaliers' advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 12th, while the Eagles are ranked 111th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Calvary Baptist Academy found their leader in sophomore Tyrone Jamison, who went 7 for 15 on his way to 17 points in addition to seven assists and seven boards. That's the most rebounds Jamison has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaiden Hall, who posted 12 points.

Tioga typically has all the answers at home, but on Monday Captain Shreve proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with a 44-37 win over the Indians. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Gators.

Calvary Baptist Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. As for Captain Shreve, their victory bumped their record up to 11-5.

Calvary Baptist Academy came up short against Captain Shreve in their previous matchup back in December of 2018, falling 40-33. Can Calvary Baptist Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
