Basketball Recap: Southampton Skates Past Pierson with Ease

Southampton entered their tilt with Pierson on Tuesday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They breezed by the Pierson Whalers to the tune of 102-26. The match was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Mariners had established a 58 point advantage.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Southampton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Alex Franklin, who posted 25 points and six rebounds. The game was Franklin's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Tyson Reddick, who earned 19 points.

Southampton pushed their record up to 13-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 88.9 points per game. As for Pierson, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Southampton will be playing in front of their home fans against Mattituck at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Southampton knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Mattituck likes a good challenge. Pierson does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
