Football Recap: Mansfield Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Mansfield duked it out with Midway on Friday. The Tigers took a 42-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers. The Tigers' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Midway's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lathan Whisenton led the charge by rushing for 136 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 8.0 yards per carry. Whisenton's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 134 rushing yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew McNair, who threw for 355 yards and three TDs while completing 74.2% of his passes.

Mansfield's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Midway, the win keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Mansfield and Midway will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Tigers are set to challenge their familiar foe Boswell at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Midway will face off against rival Harker Heights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
