Baseball Recap: Alonso Picks Up Sixth Straight Win at Home

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Alonso had no problem doing just that on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Venice Indians as they made off with a 10-3 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Ravens.

Marcelo Diaz Villalon looked comfortable as he tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Samuel Fernandez was incredible, firing off two home runs and seven RBI while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Daniel Despaine, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Alonso pushed their record up to 21-12 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Venice, their defeat ended an 18-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 29-5.

As of now, neither Alonso nor the Indians have any future games scheduled.
