Recap: Lake Worth Trojans vs. Mater Lakes Academy Bears
On Wednesday, the Lake Worth Trojans faced the Mater Lakes Academy Bears in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Lake Worth fell just short of Mater Lakes Academy by a score of 65-63. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Mater Lakes Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Christian Reid led the charge by dropping a double-double on 23 points and 12 rebounds. Reid continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Bertran Walthour, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds.
Lake Worth's defeat ended a nine-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-6. As for Mater Lakes Academy, their win was their 17th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-6.
Lake Worth will take on Sagemont at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Sagemont's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four contests. As for Mater Lakes Academy, they will square off against Williston at 3:20 p.m. on Saturday. Williston will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
