Windsor is a perfect 10-0 against Surry County since March of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Dukes will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cougars at 4:30 p.m. Windsor will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
Windsor's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. Everything went their way against Sussex Central as they made off with a 15-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Dukes, who have now won 12 contests by nine runs or more so far this season.
Brooke Hartman was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Abby Landrus was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Windsor was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sussex Central only posted a batting average of .214.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 17 runs the game before, Surry County was a bit more limited in their matchup on Thursday. They lost 12-1 to Windsor.
Surry County saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lillian Eberhart, who went 1-for-2 with one run.
Windsor is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Surry County, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-7.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Windsor hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .376. However, it's not like Surry County struggles in that department as they've averaged .467. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Windsor's way against Surry County in their previous meeting on Thursday, as Windsor made off with a 12-1 victory. Will the Dukes repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
