Recap: Monarch Coyotes vs. Horizon Hawks
There's no place like home for the Monarch Coyotes, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 66-64 win over Horizon on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Monarch has posted yet this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Monarch to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tyler Carlson, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. That's the first time this season that Carlson pulled down eight or more rebounds. Graham Johnson was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
Monarch's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.9 points per game. As for Horizon, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7.
Monarch will head out on the road to take on Regis Jesuit at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Regis Jesuit knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matches -- so hopefully Monarch likes a good challenge. As for Horizon, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Northglenn at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
