Basketball Game Preview: North Fort Myers Red Knights vs. Lehigh Lightning

The North Fort Myers Red Knights will be taking part in a tournament against the Lehigh Lightning at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. North Fort Myers is coming into the contest hot, having won their last ten games.

On Friday, North Fort Myers was fully in charge, breezing past Immokalee 54-19. The Red Knights have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matches by 22 points or more this season.

Bianca Iten was her usual excellent self, going 7 of 14 on her way to 17 points in addition to seven boards and six steals. She has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 17 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Carolina Jenkins, who posted four points along with five assists and four steals.

North Fort Myers smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 29 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Lehigh earned a 44-34 win over South Fort Myers on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lightning.

North Fort Myers pushed their record up to 14-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 30.5 points. As for Lehigh, their win bumped their record up to 5-7.

North Fort Myers ended up a good deal behind Lehigh in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, losing 41-26. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Lehigh's Rianne Smith, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds.
