Softball Recap: Viewmont Triumphs

With a playoff win on the line, Viewmont rose to the challenge on Monday. They had just enough and edged out the Alta Hawks 13-11. This was a revenge game for the Vikings: when they faced off against the Hawks on Monday, they had to take a 7-5 defeat.

Raegyn Dahlke and Marlee Moser did most of the damage at the plate: Dahlke went 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and one double, while Moser got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those five RBI gave Dahlke a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Karli Dickerson, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Viewmont lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. They are 6-1 when they post two or more home runs.

Viewmont's victory bumped their record up to 12-14. As for Alta, their loss dropped their record down to 8-16.

Coming up, Viewmont will challenge West Jordan at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Vikings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Jaguars have averaged an impressive 9.8 runs per game this season. Alta does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
