Baseball Recap: Northwestern Warriors vs. Shawnee Braves
Northwestern was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Shawnee Braves. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Braves this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-0 last Monday.
Brody Grimm put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Grimm was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. He also hit two doubles, marking his first of the season.
In other batting news, Logan Errett was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
Northwestern now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Shawnee, their win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-6.
Northwestern and Shawnee could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. The Warriors will take on Graham Local at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank disadvantage (342 vs. 141). Meanwhile, Shawnee (ranked 397th) will meet Kenton Ridge (ranked 101st) at 5:15 p.m. on Friday.
