Softball Recap: Minster Gets the Win

Minster extended their postseason success on Thursday against Lincolnview. They skirted past the Lancers 4-3. This was a revenge game for the Wildcats: when they faced off against the Lancers back in March, they had to take a 7-1 loss.

Brooklyn Osterloh spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on nine hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Addi Inskeep was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Caroline Knapke, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI.

Minster has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That lines up perfectly with their 18-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Lincolnview, they moved to 23-4 with that defeat, which also ended their nine-game winning streak.

Coming up, Minster will square off against West Jefferson at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Wildcats 2.9, the Roughriders 1.5) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Lincolnview, they have already played their next match, a 6-0 victory against St. Henry on the 22nd.
