Baseball Recap: Brown Snags Seventh Victory in Last Eight Games

Brown hadn't done well against Seneca recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Bears were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over the Red Hawks. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won ten games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Oscar Wright made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. Wright was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Wright is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on John Orourke, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs. Another player making a difference was Elijah Borders, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Brown has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.5 runs over those games. As for Seneca, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-13 record this season.

Brown will take on Western at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Seneca, they will challenge Moore at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
