Baseball Recap: Holland Has No Trouble Against Chilton

Holland won the last time they faced Chilton and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Hornets were the clear victors by a 15-2 margin over the Pirates. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Hornets.

Gavan Brummett made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 1-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Tyler Johnson was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-4. He has become a key player for Holland: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-17 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Camp, who scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Holland's victory bumped their record up to 4-18. As for Chilton, they are on a 26-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Coincidentally, Holland and Chilton will both be playing Rosebud-Lott the next time they take the field. The Pirates will head out to face the Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Hornets will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
