Baseball Recap: George Stevens Academy Eagles vs. Mattanawcook Lynx
George Stevens Academy had lost three straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 2-6 to make it four. They lost 13-1 to the Mattanawcook Lynx. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lynx this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-0 two weeks ago.
As for Mattanawcook, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 6-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 9.2 runs this season.
For Mattanawcook's part, Isaac Ritchie made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Ritchie has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Dylan Landry was excellent, getting on base in both of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Ryan Thibodeau was another key player, earning two runs and two stolen bases.
