Preview: Durant Cougars vs. Strawberry Crest Chargers

Durant and Strawberry Crest are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2015, but not for long. The Durant Cougars will head out on the road to take on the Strawberry Crest Chargers at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Strawberry Crest took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Durant, who comes in off a win.

Last Friday, Durant didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Plant, but they still walked away with a 57-53 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Durant.

Austin White and Wylde Correa were among the main playmakers for Durant as the former scored 17 points along with four steals and the latter dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Correa hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for six straight games. Another player making a difference was Isaac Correa, who scored seven points along with six rebounds.

Meanwhile, Strawberry Crest's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They suffered a tough 66-46 defeat at the hands of Bloomingdale. While losing is never fun, Strawberry Crest can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 691st, while Bloomingdale is ranked 254th).

Strawberry Crest's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Cameron Crowe, who scored 16 points along with five assists and two steals, and Jayson Lewis who scored 15 points. Maximus von Ancken was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with seven rebounds.

Durant is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. As for Strawberry Crest, they bumped their record down to 3-17 with that loss, which was their tenth straight on the road.

Durant was able to grind out a solid victory over Strawberry Crest when the teams last played back in November of 2022, winning 69-61. The rematch might be a little tougher for Durant since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
