Basketball Recap: Kiowa Comes Up Short

After flying high against Monument Academy last Tuesday, Kiowa came back down to earth. The Kiowa Indians took a blow against the Arickaree Bison on Thursday, falling 64-25. The defeat continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Bison: they've now lost three in a row.

Despite the loss, Kiowa still got an impressive performance from Myles Erker, who posted nine points and six boards.

It was another big night for Austin Wright, who went 10-for-18 on his way to 24 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals for Arickaree. Arickaree is undefeated when Wright posts 20 or more points, but 6-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jorge Ramos, who went 6-for-14 to rack up 14 points and five boards.

Kiowa's loss dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Arickaree, they pushed their record up to 10-7 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home.

Looking ahead, Kiowa will host Briggsdale at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Kiowa is facing Briggsdale at the right time seeing as Briggsdale is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. Arickaree has already played their next contest (against Burlington), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
