Baseball Game Preview: Wilcox Chargers vs. Santa Cruz Cardinals

The Wilcox Chargers are taking a road trip to challenge the Santa Cruz Cardinals at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Wilcox will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

On Friday, Wilcox got the win against Milpitas by a conclusive 14-1. That 13 run margin sets a new team best for the Chargers this season.

Meanwhile, Santa Cruz sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 win over Westmont on Friday.

Santa Cruz has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.1 runs over those games. As for Wilcox, they pushed their record up to 9-7 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Everything went Wilcox's way against Santa Cruz when the teams last played back in March of 2024, as Wilcox made off with a 9-3 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Chargers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
