Softball Game Preview: Point Arena Pirates vs. Clear Lake Cardinals

After both having extra time off, the Point Arena Pirates and the Clear Lake Cardinals will dust off their jerseys to square off against one another at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Point Arena lost 18-1 to Cloverdale last Friday.

Point Arena saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hattie Piper, who scored a run while going 1-for-1.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Clear Lake challenged Calistoga last Friday. Clear Lake put the hurt on Calistoga with a sharp 12-2 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Cardinals considering their two-run performance the contest before.

Atiana Patino made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). What's more, she gave up only zero walks, the fewest she's had since back in April of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Karsyn Greer, who scored three runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

Point Arena's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Clear Lake, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
