Softball Recap: Lake Minneola Takes a Loss

Lake Minneola was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the Belleview Rattlers.

Amaliz Martinez was cooking despite her team's loss, firing off three triples, three runs, and one RBI while going 4-for-4.

Lake Minneola's defeat dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Belleview, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lake Minneola will host The Villages Charter at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Buffalo's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so the Hawks' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Belleview, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Lake Weir at 5:00 p.m. The Hurricanes have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.86 runs per game on average), something the Rattlers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
