Football Recap: Thomas Jefferson's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Thomas Jefferson extended their winning streak to three on Thursday, bumping them up to 5-4. They walked away with a 20-7 win over the George Washington Patriots. The Spartans have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Patriots, too.

One reason for the win was Thomas Jefferson's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for 12 sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Kai Rogers and Zane Bath, who racked up eight sacks between them. Rogers also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with 13.

As for George Washington, they dropped their record down to 2-7 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. Despite 229 more yards than Thomas Jefferson, the Patriots couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.

Despite the defeat, George Washington saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Corey Dobbs rushed for 125 yards on only nine carries, and also threw for 127 yards on seven of 13 attempts.

Thomas Jefferson wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 35-19 loss against Montbello on the 31st. As for George Washington, they have also already played their next matchup, a 58-24 defeat against Northfield on the 31st.
