Basketball Game Preview: Lackey Chargers vs. Great Mills Hornets

Lackey hasn't had much luck against Great Mills recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Lackey Chargers will be playing at home against the Great Mills Hornets at 6:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Great Mills will be up against a hot Lackey team: the squad just extended their winning streak to four. Lackey walked away with a 55-46 win over La Plata on Friday.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lackey to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tyzon Swann, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Malik Gordon, who posted 13 points in addition to six assists and six steals.

Lackey smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Great Mills, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They snuck past Northern with a 68-62 victory on Friday.

Great Mills' win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.8 points per game. As for Lackey, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season.
