Basketball Recap: Vacaville Christian Falcons vs. Golden Sierra Grizzlies

If the Vacaville Christian Falcons were riding high off their 56-23 takedown of the San Juan Spartans last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Vacaville Christian fell 58-46 to the Grizzlies on Friday. Vacaville Christian was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Grizzlies apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.

Several Falcons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Siifan Ayana, who scored 13 points along with two steals. Brian Laxamana was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 11 rebounds and two blocks.

It was another big night for Patrick Bingham, who dropped a triple-double on 20 points, 24 rebounds, and ten steals for Golden Sierra. Bingham is crushing the rebound category: he's posted at least ten every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was William Drescher, who scored nine points along with five rebounds.

Vacaville Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Golden Sierra, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-14 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Vacaville Christian will take on the Rams at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Rio Vista will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak. As for Golden Sierra, they will stay at home for another game and welcome the Scots at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th. Highlands has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last five games.
