Basketball Recap: Shanley Takes a Loss

Shanley lost against Red River back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Shanley Deacons had to suffer through a 98-54 loss at the hands of the Red River Roughriders. While losing is never fun, the Deacons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked 97th, while the Roughriders are ranked 16th).

Shanley's defeat was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-18. As for Red River, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-5.

Coming up, Shanley will look to defend their home court on February 25th against Grand Forks Central at 7:15 p.m. As for Red River, they will head out to square off against Horace at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Horace's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
