Basketball Recap: Chatham Central Takes a Loss

Chatham Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 53-28 to the Seaforth Hawks. While losing is never fun, the Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 234th, while the Hawks are ranked 22nd).

When it comes to explaining why Chatham Central lost, don't look at Karaleigh Dodson. Despite the final result, she almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine boards.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Seaforth to victory, but perhaps none more so than Gabrielle White, who went 7 of 14 en route to 15 points and five steals. Peyton Collins was another key player, putting up 15 points and five steals.

Chatham Central's loss dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Seaforth, their win was their 22nd straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-1.

Chatham Central didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 69-40 victory against North Moore on the 30th. As for Seaforth, they are taking a road trip to take on Northwood at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Seaforth's defense has only allowed 27.2 points per game this season, so Northwood's offense will have their work cut out for them.
