Softball Recap: Bayard Rustin Makes It Five in a Row at Home

Bayard Rustin's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They walked away with a 6-1 victory over the Great Valley Patriots. The Golden Knights haven't had any issues with the Patriots recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Ashley Falcone spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jenna Kraft was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Josie Jacobs, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI.

Bayard Rustin pushed their record up to 7-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Great Valley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Bayard Rustin will square off against rival Coatesville at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Golden Knights 3.6, the Red Raiders 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Great Valley is set to face off against their familiar foe Oxford at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
