Rocklin is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Monday. They will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Granite Bay Grizzlies at 4:00 p.m. Granite Bay took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Rocklin, who comes in off a win.
On Saturday, Rocklin beat Foothill 7-2.
Daniel Panteloglow looked comfortable as he pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
At the plate, Rocklin let Colby Pudge and Dylan Nusz run wild. Pudge scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances, while Nusz scored a run while going 2-for-3. What's more, Nusz posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. Ethan Brown also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Meanwhile, Granite Bay was not able to break out of their rough patch last Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of Elk Grove. The contest marked the Grizzlies' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Granite Bay also got a good showing from Drew Galbaugh, who tossed 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off one hit. Galbaugh has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Jace Bystrowski was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases.
Rocklin now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Granite Bay, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Rocklin has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Granite Bay struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Rocklin came out on top in a nail-biter against Granite Bay in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 8-6. Will Rocklin repeat their success, or does Granite Bay have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
