Softball Recap: Concord Has No Trouble Against Northwest Cabarrus

Concord hadn't done well against Northwest Cabarrus recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Concord came out on top against Northwest Cabarrus by a score of 8-3. The game marked the Spiders' most dominant win of the season so far.

Alexa Hooks spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on seven hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, McKinley Williams was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple marked the first that she hit this season. Anamaria Shuman was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Concord is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-3 record this season. Northwest Cabarrus suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 4-3.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Concord will take on rival Central Cabarrus at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Northwest Cabarrus is set to face off against their familiar foe Carson at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
