Volleyball Preview: Mercy Tigers vs. West Haven Blue Devils

The Mercy Tigers will head out to square off against the West Haven Blue Devils at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Mercy is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Montville just ended the team's four-match winning streak on Monday. They fell just short of the Wolves by a score of 3-2. While the Tigers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Wolves 25-17 in the first set.

Mercy actually scored more points across those five sets (106-101), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The final score came out to 17-25, 25-21, 25-22, 19-25, 15-13.

Meanwhile, West Haven entered their matchup against Sacred Heart Academy on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Blue Devils fell 3-1 to the Sharks.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 20-25, 25-10, 25-9.

The loss was their first at home , dropping their record down to 9-3. As for Mercy, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-11.
