Basketball Game Preview: Herington Railroaders vs. Council Grove Braves

The Herington Railroaders will be taking part in a tournament against the Council Grove Braves at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Herington is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Clifton-Clyde on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Herington came up short against Clifton-Clyde, falling 64-38. The Railroaders were down 49-25 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Harley Larosa, who went 6 for 9 on her way to 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabelle Ecklund, who posted seven points and five boards.

Meanwhile, Council Grove was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 13th straight loss dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 56-29 loss at the hands of Clifton-Clyde.

Herington's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Council Grove, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Herington was able to grind out a solid victory over Council Grove when the teams last played back in February of 2021, winning 50-41. Will Herington repeat their success, or does Council Grove have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
