Softball Recap: Queen's Grant's Victory on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Eight

Queen's Grant put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on the Forest Hills Yellow Jackets with a sharp 17-2 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 19-0 two weeks ago.

Addi Benton made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alyssa Steele, who scored three runs and stole Four bases. while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in stolen bases. Another player making a difference was Lily Schott, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Queen's Grant always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .645. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Forest Hills only posted an OBP of .250.

Queen's Grant pushed their record up to 8-0 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Forest Hills, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Queen's Grant will take on Bonnie Cone Leadership Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Queen's Grant's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Bonnie Cone Leadership Academy's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Forest Hills, they will host Anson at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Anson has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.78 runs per game on average), something Forest Hills will no doubt try to take advantage of.
