Baseball Recap: Syracuse Comes Up Short

Syracuse extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 1-13. They lost 24-9 to the Davis Darts. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Darts this season, with their most recent defeat being a 8-2 loss on Wednesday.

Mason Wolk made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Frankie Harris was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

As for Davis, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-7. Considering they have won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

On Davis' side, Dylan Manning looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Manning has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Briggs Taylor was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Grady Korth also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Looking ahead, Syracuse will head out to square off against West Field at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Titans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Longhorns have averaged an impressive 9.2 runs per game this season. As for Davis, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Layton at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Darts' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lancers have averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season.
