Basketball Recap: DJ Williams Key Part of a Team Effort in Lions Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against North Mecklenburg, West Charlotte was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They walked away with a 49-42 win over the Seventy-First Falcons. The Lions have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Falcons, too.

West Charlotte's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from DJ Williams, who posted 11 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks. Williams has been hot, having posted two or more blocks the last six times he's played. Chase Bryson was another key player, putting up 12 points and six boards.

West Charlotte now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Seventy-First, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 8-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Charlotte will face off against Mallard Creek at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Mallard Creek is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.6 points per game this season. As for Seventy-First, they will take on South View at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. South View will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something Seventy-First surely won't give up without a fight.
